'Course, then you'll hear a song or somebody will laugh or the wind will blow the wrong way. And one day it'll be different, the load won't feel as heavy. Eventually, it starts to close up from the outside in. Originally posted by start:It's like someone shot a cannon ball right through your stomach, leaving a great big hole. Or am I just reading WAY too much into this? I can see how people are thinking Tomoya survived the surgery and lived happily ever after with Tomoyo.īut suppose the happy true ending is true, and Tomoya and Tomoyo lived happily ever after, why would Tomoyo say those things if Tomoya survived a successful surgery and lived? "I waited for you for 8 months (when they broke up during the school ark), then I waited for you for 3 years, how long do you plan on making me wait" (indicating this is what she said when the possibly reunited in the afterlife). The part that's bugging me is that, if memory serves me, during the ending Tomoyo says a few things that contradict the two aforementioned endings. Tomoya still decided to help people online because she's a genuinely good person. The one I'm seeing now is that Tomoya DID survive a SUCCESSFUL surgery and basically Tomoya and Tomoyo lived happily ever after. Then when Tomoyo died, she was reunited with Tomoya in the afterlife.Īfter doing another playthrough, I am starting to see a different ending outcome. But he soon after died and Tomoyo stayed strong, helping people online. He regained enough of his memory to speak Tomoyo's name, which made Tomoyo break down crying (happy tears obviously). Originally, the ending that I got from it was that Tomoya did not survive the surgery and it was not successful. (WARNING, if you have not played this game and have not gotten the true ending, please DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER!) Even though in the anime it was portrayed as being two different festivals, in the original visual novel there is only one Founder's Festival.Īside from the main characters who are students during the Clannad storyline, other characters from the series including Misae Sagara and Yusuke Yoshino also attended Hikarizaka Private High School.First off, let me say that I'm aware that Key meant the true ending to be ambiguous, or open to your own interpretation, just like a song sometimes is. During this day, stalls which sell food and other goods are opened around the school and some clubs offer shows and special displays. The school's most important festivity is the Founder's Festival, which takes place during the month of May. The school also holds many other arts and crafts clubs, although during the story the two clubs of this kind which are most heavily featured are the recently created Drama Club and the Chorus Club. Some notable clubs seem to be the soccer club, the basketball club and the rugby club. Hikarizaka Private High School offers sports scholarships, which is the main reason that Sunohara and Tomoya attend it, although both of them quit their respective clubs, and has a special dormitory reserved for these scholarship students who have come from other places of Japan. There is also a courtyard between the buildings which students hang around during lunch break. The school offers new bread every now and then, and the most popular ones become quickly sold out. Every day at lunchtime, the cafeteria becomes crowded with students trying to get to the bread counter to buy new bread buns. It also has a gym, a cafeteria with numerous vending machines and numerous courts. Fuko Ibuki and Kotomi Ichinose spend most of their time in this building. The school has at least two buildings, a new one where classes are located, and an old one destined basically to the library and other clubrooms. The school has a summer and a winter uniform, both of which can be seen at different times during the story. This color matches that of the students' indoor shoes. Green is the color for tenth graders, orange or red for eleventh graders and blue for twelfth graders. The grade they belong to can be told by the color of their badge, as noticed by Tomoya early in the story. It is a typical Japanese high school, with students ranging from 15 to 18 years of age. This is used during the series as a recurring symbol of the hardships that Tomoya and other characters (especially Nagisa) encounter. It is located at the top of a steep hill which students have to climb every morning. This is where most of the events of Clannad occur. The Hikarizaka Private High School ( 私立光坂高等学校, Shiritsu Hikarizaka Koutougakkou ?) is a fictional high school in the fictional town of Hikarizaka in Japan. A building in the Hikarizaka Private High School as seen in Let's Find Friends.
